Introduction
Title IX is a federal law that prohibits discrimination based on sex in educational institutions. This document outlines your rights and options under Title IX at Â鶹¸ßÇå.
Your Rights Under Title IX
- Right to a Safe Environment: You have the right to a safe and nondiscriminatory educational environment. Â鶹¸ßÇå is committed to preventing and addressing sexual harassment and assault.
- Right to Report: You can report incidents of sexual harassment, assault, or discrimination to the university. Reporting options include:
- Campus Security: For immediate assistance or emergencies.
- Title IX Coordinator: To discuss options and support available.
- Right to Confidentiality: Your privacy will be respected throughout the reporting process. Information will only be shared with those who need to know to address your concerns.
- Right to Support Services: You can access various support services, including counseling, advocacy, and academic accommodations.
- Right to an Investigation: You have the right to have your complaint investigated promptly and fairly upon reporting.
- Right to Appeal: If you are not satisfied with the outcome of an investigation, you have the right to appeal the decision.

- Informal Resolution: You may seek informal resolution options.
- Formal Complaint: You can file a formal complaint with the Title IX Coordinator. This will initiate a formal investigation and hearing.

Additional Considerations
- Retaliation: It is unlawful for anyone to retaliate against you for reporting an incident or participating in an investigation. If you experience retaliation, report it immediately.
- Amnesty Policy: Â鶹¸ßÇå encourages reporting. Individuals who report incidents of sexual misconduct will not be subject to disciplinary action for minor policy violations (e.g., alcohol use).
