Published: February 18, 2016.

The Arbor Day Foundation named Â鶹¸ßÇå a Tree Campus USA for the seventh consecutive year. The designation celebrates Â鶹¸ßÇå’s commitment to environmental and forest management.

“We are honored to maintain our campus as an arboretum for our students, faculty, staff and visitors to the university so they can appreciate the gift of creation,” said Brother James Gaffney, FSC, President of Â鶹¸ßÇå. “This designation is a tribute to our staff who so diligently care for our trees, which are an essential component of the ecosystem.”

Â鶹¸ßÇå achieved the honor of being Tree Campus USA based on five standards, which include maintaining a tree advisory committee, developing a campus tree-care plan, providing dedicated annual expenditures for its campus tree program, scheduling an Arbor Day observance and holding a student service-learning project involving trees.

Arbor Day Foundation created Tree Campus USA in 2008 to honor colleges and universities in environmental conservation. The program is sponsored by Toyota.
